Vertical Stabilizer (Tail)
The tail provided in this kit is the correct tail for the Bell 230 but NOT for the Airwolf.
This tail is scaled to the proper size for Airwolf. It is handmade from balsa and covered in fiberglass. The oval recess allows it to seat onto the fuselage as the provided tail does. There is also a tube built in to allow for the wires of a tail light (not included). The skid is a heavy gauge wire which is affixed deep into the tail. The tail will be provided with screws and inserts. The holes will not be drilled for assembly. Follow the procedure for mounting the tail as found in the Big Airwolf manual.
You can purchase this part as "rough finish", or "ready to be installed".
The "rough finish" version of the Tail will arrive assembled and glassed. The modeler will need to roughen the epoxy resin surface, primer it, and add the desired details. The oval recess will be covered by the fiberglass and and will have to be cut open. The opening of the tube for the wiring will also be covered by the fiberglass but can be cut open if a tail light is desired. Cut the openings before assembly and painting.
The "ready to be installed" Tail will be cleaned, and have two coats of primer. The oval reces will be cut open and painted too. The modeler can add panel lines and rivets and then paint the tail before attaching it to the fuselage. The opening to the wire tube will be marked but it will not be cut open.
